Ethical repurposed Plastic Bags

Ethical repurposed Plastic Bags

With the new year upon us, it's a great time to ditch bad habits and acquire better ones. And if there is one bad habit we could all do to get rid of it's single-use Plastic Bags.

Even though we know the damage plastic bags are doing to our planet, they are so tempting to take home, when they are conveniently ready for you at the supermarket check out. Unfortunately they only serve us for the few minutes between the supermarket and our front door, before we get rid of them once we've unloaded our shopping.

I too used to find myself in this situation and I ended up with tonnes of plastic bags piling up under my sink and in my drawers. Luckily a project I completed for my masters final back in 2012 got me experimenting with single use plastic bags. The result was a set of 3 pouches made of 100% repurposed plastic bags. From there my project developed into a line of locally produced, hand made fashion products.

Last year NK's diverted more than 900 plastic bags from landfill.

The bags are lightweight and durable as well as water resistant, whilst being made entirely from disposable products, otherwise considered to be waste. And of course they are a great substitute for regular single-use bags at the supermarket.
